I have the pleasure and honor to invite you to attend and participate in a very famous urodynamics workshop that will be organized in collaboration with The Bristol Urological Institute, Southmead Hospital, Bristol; under the supervision of “Professor Paul Abrams” the famous urologist and the Chairman of “International Consultation of Incontinence” (ICI) and who served as the general secretary of “The International Continence Society” (ICS) from 1985 to 2003. An expert team of doctors from UK will be escorting him to complete the course. This workshop has been running successfully for the past years in Bristol (3 times/yr), Manchester (3 times/yr), London (2 times/yr), Newcastle (3 times/yr). The course was successfully held for the first time in the Middle East in Cairo, Egypt 2004. Then in Amman 2005, Tunis 2006, Luxor 2007, Damascus and Thessaloniki 2008, Oman 2009, Abu Dhabi and Hurghada 2010, Beirut, Kuwait and Kochi 2011, Cairo 2012 and we shall have a course in Istanbul on June 2012. Please note that it is also registered by The International Continence Society as a recognized course and will be accredited by the European Urological Association.
It is a 3-day course and is limited to 25 participants. The course is designed for those who are interested but not already experienced in the subject. The purpose is to evaluate the place of urodynamics in clinical urology and gynaecology, including all cases of voiding dysfunction, incontinence, overactive bladder and neurogenic bladder. The course is a combination of lectures using slides, PowerPoint or overheads, interactive discussion and practical video demonstrations. The course will include theoretical presentations that entitle all aspects of the urodynamic machines and how to operate and maintain it and the different applications of various tests including the simple and complex uroflowmetry including the video-urodynamics, the ambulatory and pediatric urodynamics. This will be followed by the practical part of using the machines with high technical training. So time is spent discussing the basic principles of urodynamics, setting up equipment, urodynamic techniques, interpretation of results and writing reports. At the close of the course there will be a short multiple choice test. Those who achieve satisfactory marks will be awarded the Certificate in Urodynamics of the Bristol Urological Institute. Others who do not reach the required standard, or who choose not to participate, will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance. PLEASE NOTE:
